AI-York Postcard (Outside)
This is a postcard created for The Art Institute of York – PA for its Jump Start event. The Jump Start events serve as a new student orientation and introduction to the school.
The gritty, stained concrete background combined with the organic shapes of the vines gives the allusion of the merging of different elements, an important concept in creating good design.

Front Cover
Borders Bookstore does not have an employee newsletter. While working at a local Borders, I created this concept for a newsletter as a way of showing what the company could be doing. The hope was to find a better way to convey information to the stores’ employees.
I used a 2-color design to limit printing costs, and I took all of my own photographs for the newsletter.

Front Cover
This is the Staff Newsletter for The Art Institute of York, PA. The newsletter was distributed quarterly, and ranged from 8 to 12 pages, depending on content. The newsletter was printed in-house at the school, which allowed for full-color artwork and photos.
When the school approached me about creating this newsletter, all they had was a name for the newsletter. I created the layout structure, type treatments, masthead, headers, and footers. The school provided all of the text, and most of the photos for the newsletter. Occasionally I had to go on-site and take some photos of events at the school.

Brass Monkey Studios Website
This is a website concept I created for Brass Monkey Studios in Harrisburg, PA. The final development is still in development. The site will eventually utilize WordPress as a Content Management System to allow the owner of the studio to add/edit content with little computer knowledge necessary.
The working comp of the site can be viewed here.

Union Trust Steakhouse – “Buck-A-Shuck” Table Topper
This table topper was created for Union Trust Steakhouse to announce a new oyster happy hour special. This piece uses existing branding patterns of other Union Trust designs, and is accompanied by a wonderful photograph.

5k Walk/Run for the Animals Poster – Humane Society of Harrisburg Area
This is a poster for the Humane Society of Harrisburg Area’s 5k Walk/Run for the Animals fund raising event. The poster uses the same purple/orange color combination of previous posters for this event, but the event logo has been downplayed this year with a further emphasis on the artwork of the people and animals running. To add a bit of fun and humor to the piece, the small kitten is wandering in the opposite direction than everyone else, as kittens tend to do.

PWEA’s PennTec 2010 Logo
This is the logo for PWEA’s (Pennsylvania Water Environment Association) 2010 annual conference, PennTec. Using the existing colors for the PWEA brand, the logo is comprised of the PWEA logo and tightly-spaced typographic treatment of the conference name. The logo appears in all of the conference materials, and helps to tie all of the pieces together.

Mercato | Valanni | Varga Magazine Ad
This is a magazine ad created for 3 restaurants in Philadelphia. The ad appeared in the Best of Philly issue of Philadelphia Magazine in 2009. The excellent photographs speak for themselves to entice people to check out all three of these hot spots in downtown Philadelphia.

Donation Wish List – Humane League of Lancaster County
This is a flier designed for the nonprofit animal shelter, The Humane League of Lancaster County. Previous fliers only focused on cats and dogs, and for this piece, I wanted to stress that the shelter cares for other animals as well, including mice and birds. I kept the black and copper colors used in the billboard, and created paw print bullets to keep the fun feeling generally associated with pets and other animals.

Alien Font Poster
This poster is for a display font I created for a science fiction application. The font was inspired by the “rune” like symbols commonly associated with aliens in science fiction. I also drew a lot from precision geometry to convey the technical/scientific feel one would associate with aliens.
This font would be appropriate for things like Sci-Fi movie posters, book covers, and magazine articles.
